Colour coded music theory. Although not a complete course in music theory this poster shows focuses on relations between music notation chords keys (church) modes solfège (do re mi fa sol la ti do) and where the corresponding tones are located on the piano keyboard as well as on standard pitch ukelele and guitar. The scale notes of the first octave are also shown for recorder (baroque tuning) and 6-hole flutes.For the aspiring composer and the seasoned composer the poster contains tips on generating new ideas using some dice. Use this either to get passed a writer's block write something which is not following a pattern of habit or challenge yourself by injecting some randomness into your creative process! A study tool for the student of music theory and an idea generator for the composer alike. Based on the C major scale (the white keys of the piano) this poster uses the colours of the rainbow to show how music notation relates to the keys of the piano/keyboard strings of the ukelele and guitar and holes of the flute. The entire posted follows these colour codes:C = redD = yellowE = greenF = cyanG = blueA = magentaB = grey (the seventh key is often the odd one out in music)Solfège (Do Re Mi Fa Sol La Ti Do = major scale) once learned can be used to sing/play all the church modes from memory simply by chosing another starting point in the circle.
